🍅 Naperville’s MayneLand Farm Nears 50 Years of Fresh, Local Produce

Driving the news: For nearly five decades, MayneLand Farm has been a staple of the Naperville community, offering fresh produce directly from the farm stand to local customers. The farm, located at Mill Street and Bauer Road, has become a beloved destination for residents looking to connect with their food.

Details:

  • Started in 1976, MayneLand Farm originally began as a small corn stand on land purchased by the Mayne family in 1949.

  • Jeremy Mayne, who led the farm for 43 years, retired in 2023 but remains on the property with his wife.

  • This year, Andrew Yates, a former employee, took over the farm stand under the new name Mill Street Produce, continuing the legacy of providing fresh vegetables, fruits, honey, eggs, and flowers.

  • Year-round operations include planting, seed starting, and maintaining 15 high tunnels, greenhouses, chicken coops, and beehives.

Why it matters: MayneLand Farm remains committed to providing fresh, local produce to the Naperville community, offering a direct connection between customers and the food they eat. The farm’s shift to Mill Street Produce ensures this legacy continues, with plans to grow operations and attract new customers in the future.

The big picture: As MayneLand Farm prepares to mark its 50th anniversary in 2026, the team is focused on expanding their offerings and extending the farm season. Partnerships with local restaurants and food services could further enrich the community's connection to fresh, locally grown food.

What’s next: MayneLand Farm will continue to be a place where the community can connect to nature and enjoy daily-picked produce while supporting sustainable local farming.

The bottom line: With its long-standing history and commitment to fresh, local produce, MayneLand Farm is poised to keep growing and serving the Naperville community for many years to come.
